For screen shots of presentation slides, NOT what you were thinking...
1) Open Window Media Player
2) Menu > Tools > Options
3) In Options, select the Performance Tab
4) Click 'Advanced'
5) Uncheck “Use Overlays’
When this is done, ALT-PrintScreen is now possible.
